Uganda, 1908-1919
Collection: Colonial Law in Africa, 1808-1919 Volumes Uganda, 1908-1919
The Zanzibar Gazette contains the only coverage of Uganda from April 1892 until 1908. The gazettes for Uganda begin in 1908. Indexes of officers' names, appointments, promotions and transfers are present from the start. These gazettes include legal reports, colonial finances, imports, exports and historical weather recordings. The events covered by these items include the Busoga famine of 1908 and World War 1. A patent record from 1919 also reveals that the Swastika was licensed to a soap merchant from Widnes, Lancashire. These gazettes were published alongside the Annual Departmental Reports for Uganda.
