The first Gazette for Kenya was published in 1899. The contents of these gazettes included a focus on laws and legal changes from the beginning. Lists of officers and announcements relating to them were also included. Shipping arrival and departure records, as well as related taxes, are present from the first issue. Events covered here include the abolition of the legal status of slavery and World War 1. These gazettes were published alongside the Annual Departmental Reports for Kenya.
