Zambia (Northern Rhodesia), 1899-1919
Zambia (Northern Rhodesia), 1899-1919
Collection: Colonial Law in Africa, 1808-1919 Volumes Zambia (Northern Rhodesia), 1899-1919
The first of these gazettes was published in 1899; it was known as the 'British Central Africa Gazette' until the end of 1902. This Gazette's title would continue to change as the colony's borders did. Scattered references to officers are present from 1899, but regular records of appointments and departures begin in 1906. Land sales and surveys are a core concern throughout these gazettes. Court records and the movement of mail were also a priority. These records cover King Edward VII's death, World War 1, and the small pox outbreak of 1919. These gazettes were published alongside the Annual Reports for Northern Rhodesia which we sell on Microfilm.
