Transport and Public Works, 1895-1956

The Annual Reports were regularly printed until 1929/30, thereafter cyclostyle copies are available until 1938/39. Communications and Post Office Savings Bank, 1895-1956

Commencing with Post and Telegraph reports from 1895, this grouping then progresses to encompass other Post Office papers from the Handbooks to the Post Office Savings Bank records. Between 1912 and 1936, information relating to the Post Office Savings Bank was incorporated into the Annual Report of the Post and Telegraph Department. Commerce, 1889-1956

The papers on commerce focus on two core themes, the former is customs, trade and marketing; the latter is resource production. The then Government's combination of Customs reports with Marine reports serves to emphasize the colonizers' dependence upon its ports, an emphasis reinforced by the trade reports.
