The Board of Trade is a British government department and committee of the Privy Council tasked with overseeing matters of trade, commerce, and industry. Though effectively dormant in the late-20^th century, and now residing in the Department of International Trade, it played an important role in British political life from the 17^th century onward. This volume contains selected departmental records from the period 1943-1963. 

Subjects covered include international trade policy and negotiations, with a heavy focus on tariff regimes, including the 1947 General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). International commodities policy is also covered in great detail, as are the European Recovery Programme (also known as the Marshall Plan), Schuman Plan and subsequent European Coal and Steel Community (RCSC), and views of domestic industrial bodies such as the Glass Manufacturers Federation.
