Comments on the aphorisms of Hippocrates
Collection: Essays and Dissertations of the Scottish Royal Medical Society, 1751-1970 Volumes Comments on the aphorisms of Hippocrates
A late 18th century collection of manuscript comments in Latin, composed and duly signed by members of the Society, on individual aphorisms by Hippocrates, or Hippocratis Aphorismi. A few of the aphorisms are quoted in Greek as well as in the better known Latin translation, which famously begins: "Vita brevis, ars longa, occasio praeceps, experientia fallax, judicium difficile." Arranged in three volumes, perhaps originally vol. 2-4 judging by the shelfmarks, and covering the period [1781?]-1792 in the Julian calendar.
